I was searching the web today and notice that no embroidery company is coming up in You Tube. I think this would be a great way to get google to find you on search engines. Today, my brother and I made a You Tube Video at NW Embroidery.
I get a lot of questions about, what type of file should you send so it can be digitized. The best file is a high resolution jpeg. This allows the digitizer to zoom in on the design and see all the details. A lot of people assume you can take a logo from a website and digitize off that. The website graphic is very low resolution and pixilated. When you zoom into the design you can’t see any detail. Remember for digitizing, “High Resolution Jpeg”
Has anybody out there wanted to take their 1 head embroidery show on the road? I had an opportunity to take my 1 head embroidery machine to the Tacoma Dome last week for the Rodeo

Remember to clarify shipping instructions with your customer. Today I shipped five shirts Next Day air when the customer changed to UPS Ground. Always Double Check
I am getting numerous requests for the soft shell technical jackets. Many of the vendors provide this jacket. Last year we imported 2,000 of the soft shell jackets. We made a jacket similiar to San Mar’s Glacier jacket. Attached is a photo of our version of the Glacier Jacket. We can sell this jacket for $29.95 with embroidery. I think San Mar sells this jacket blank for $29.95. It pays to import from China.
I am consistenly getting adjustments on my UPS bill because a customer is a “residential” delivery. I can’t figure out how UPS classifies people’s addresses as residential or commercial. Does anybody know how to figure out if the customer is a residential address before you ship to them? Thanks Erik
I was just surfing the internet and noticed that Northwest Embroidery is giving away free digitizing setups for August. Check them out www.greatwallemblem.com
The best way to get a logo approval is by taking a digital photo of the embroidery swatch. In the past I use to scan my swatches, but the scanner would smoosh down the embroidery and look terrible on screen. The customer would always end up not approving it because of the poor look to a scan. I would suggest going out and purchasing a Sony digital camera. You can get a nice one for under 200 bucks. Digital is the way to go. erik
Has you or your bookkeeper ever paid the same invoice twice to the same vendor? We call this double paying an invoice and can lose your company a lot of money. You need to make sure you have accounting checks and balances in place to prevent this from happening. At Northwest Embroidery we use our accounting software called Shopworks. Each order of garments we assign a PO to. This will notify the bookkeeper of what was originally ordered and the price when it comes in. The PO needs to match the vendors bill exactly (quantity and pricing). If you don’t assign PO’s and double check you will for sure end up double paying invoices. Be careful when bill paying!!
